First Open Mic!

Dearest readers,

So BRandon and I did our first open mic last Sunday. It was nervewracking and fun. Brandon and I sang a love song we wrote to Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. I forgot the lyrics in two places and felt like crap but but the crowd seemed to like it nontheless. A little awkward though. Brandon and I went inbetween two very serious poets. The girl right before us read a poem about her dead friend and burst into tears. Every one was completely silent tand then the MC was like, " The brothers Hill-ard? Hil aird?" Wow. It was good though. We got a lot of "You guys are f*^king funny." Brand and I also decided to audtion October 4th for the Groundlings Improve Troup. This is the comedy troupe that Will Ferrel, Chris Parnell, Lisa Kudrow, Mike McDonald (Mad TV) came from. The classes are way $$$, but we came down here to do it. Other than that we spend most of our time doing extra work and missing the crap out of our friends back home. Random note. I got yelled at but the director of the upcoming crap movie "Superbad" starring Michael Cera (George Michael from Arrested Development) because during alunchroom scene in which they gave me two corn dogs, I proceeded to do the little Johnny Depp dance thing from the movie Betty and June. Appently, the director hates this dance and does note want it in the critically acclaimed masterpiece, "Superbad." Also. I did the show Los Vegas and guess who was directing me? A man I like to call Lavaar Burton. That's right, Geordie LaForge from Star Trek, THe Reading Rainbow host, directed me. Being directed by him was worth the big move alone. Untill next time...

1...2...3...Update!

Dearest friends,

Update time. Brandon and I decided to do extra work full time, so we will see how that goes. I put in my two weeks at Starbucks and the Manager suggested that I just work two days a month and keep my free coffee and discount...AWESOME! Brandon and I are lookign to get headshots and start submitting to agencies. Brandon and I found a newsletter that tells what needs agencies have. A lot of them have "specialty needs" like identical twins. That looks like a good avenue. We have written a lot of stand up, but havn't really gotten a chance to preform b/c I work mornings at starbucks and Brandon works all the time into the evening doing extra work. Hung out with Tommy Snider which was really fun. He has his own show and Brandon and I are writting some stuff to submit to him to use in his show. We'll see how that goes. Still pretty lonely. Brandon and I pretty much keep to ourselves. We still feel called here so we're excited to see what opportunities God opens for us. I always try to keep in mind why I came down here and what I really love to do. Brandon and I want to take improve classes from the groundlings, but they are SO expensive. I want to use my money wisely and make it last, but I also want to keep in my why I am down here and trust that God will provide. That's a lesson I think i'm learning. I havn't really had to rely on God for provision in the sense that I have nothing and God suddenly provides. I hope to be stretched thin to be able to do this. Anyway, keep sending your prayers and messages...

You Might See Us Grindin' on the OC!

So some interesting events have developed. Brando and I signed up for an extra casting agency and two hours later, we were on the set of the OC. Pretty funny. We played hip clubsters which was fun. The PA would just point at me and say, "dance with this girl." AWKWARD. Let me tell you. Brando and I goofed off in the back as usual because dancing to the same song for 8 hours straight just gets boring. We got the entire back row of the scene to do the robot, which was great. It was also entertaining because they had servers going around handing you alcohol, but we wern't aloud to drink it. So in this really long scene, a server comes up to me and hands me a shot glass. So I have to bump and grind some girl with a full shot glass for what seemed like 8 days. Who does that? Anyway, the next day Brandon and I got called to be on the show Entourage. That was also fun. They shot it at Ashton Kutcher's resteraunt, The Geisha House. We actually got to meet the cast which was neat. They sat Brandon and I in a table out of the shot so we again goofed off the entire time which was fun. We got called during that shoot to do a shoot tomorrow for Ron Livingston's new drama, "Stand Off." We have to play trendy fans of some rok star. I am gonna scream my lungs at for their fake rockstar and get PAID for it. Cha boi. Let me tell you guys, this place is dark. I can feel it sucking away at my spirit. Miss you guys a lot...
